A new approach by researchers at Duke University combines chemotherapy drugs and a new method for irradiating pancreatic tumors in mice. The researchers claim the new combination therapy eliminated tumors in 80% of mice across several model types. The new approach may pave the way for more treatment options for pancreatic cancer.

The findings are published in the journal Nature Biomedical Engineering in an article titled, “Brachytherapy Via a Depot of Biopolymer-Bound 131I Synergizes With Nanoparticle Paclitaxel in Therapy-Resistant Pancreatic Tumors.”
